Art Work
Sometimes I am so moved by a view that I will not only do a palette knife or plein air paintings of it, but want to spend more time in developing the painting in more detail and color. This is inspiration at its best. I just can't capture all that needs to be said in less than 40+ hours of painting. Some things are simply stated and others like a great glass of wine need more to create the fullness that needs to be expressed. This is what this collection is all about. My heart and inspiration is embedded in each one of these paintings as with all my paintings. However there is more detail, and an additional finesse about these. Enjoy
Diamonds in the Rough
Sometimes I just have to do a small study before I decide on what I want to enlarge or change. These are such paintings. As for Challenges, I belong to the WildCats of Provence that was created due to 15 local artists that when to France to paint with Ian Roberts. We all still paint together, have showings and socialize. That web site is http://wildcatprovencepainters.blogspot.com/.
Palette Knife work
All these paintings are done with a palette knife. A palette knife is a semi flexable thin bladed knife that I use to blend and apply paint onto the canvas. I usually use the palette knife when I plein air paint out on location, It is quick and limits you from over blending or getting to detailed.
Plein Air Works
Have you ever been outdoor and just wish you could take it all in and create a memory of that spectacular and emotionally filled site onto canvas. That is what plein air painting does. Oh, but you only have a few hours to do this because the light will change and the emotion will change. You are there to capture color and emotion on top of the view.
